PROJECT
MURDOCH SQUARE
The 2024 completion of the new state-of-the-art Woman and Babies hospital at Murdoch Square aims to serve the community by providing a new level of care. Spanning 1,600 square metres, this project features a landscaped exterior built with Bautek’s range of high-performance mortars and Stone Merchant’s natural granite pavers in mutual tones of coastal grey and coastal white.
Upon project initiation, the decision to employ a rigid bound method for the granite paving was driven by a commitment to longevity and durability. This approach not only ensures an enduring, low-maintenance pedestrian surface but also imbues the space with structural integrity and refined strength. The granite paving has been laid in a geometric pattern, creating a harmonious interplay of contrasting tones, complimented by the surrounding resident artwork that animates the space.
The Bautek Pavement Products rigid bound system – compromising Bautek BOND, BED and GROUT – redefines paving with its inherent qualities of stability and ease of upkeep. When paired with the timeless beauty of natural stone, the result is a landscape that not only meets the demands of the present, but also of the future.
